“UniKL MSI Contributes to Environmental Conservation: Successfully Plants 500 Mangrove Trees in Collaborative CSR Initiative with Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri Kedah.”

On 19 August 2023, Alumni Unit, Campus Lifestyle in collaboration with SRC UniKL MSI, Alumni Chapter and Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri Kedah had successfully organized a noteworthy Environmental Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program “Mangrove Tree Planting”

With its main objective to support the greening Malaysia Initiative, “Kempen Penanaman 100 juta Pokok” the program not only involved UniKL MSI alumni and student but also staff who had volunteer their effort to contribute to this high impact initiative.

UniKL MSI volunteers was led by Ts. Dr. Muhammad Al’ Hapis Abdul Razak, Deputy Dean SDCL. A total of 500 mangrove tree had been successfully plant by UniKL MSI. The program was officiated by Encik Rajihan Rahim, Penolong Pengarah Bahagian Silvikultur & Perlindungan Hutan, Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri Kedah.

The effort echoes UniKL’s commitment to a greener Malaysia and aligns seamlessly with national goals. Together, we’ve sown the seeds of a more eco-conscious future.

UniKL MSI DEFENDS THE TITLE OF USSC CHAMPION

The Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) has once again showcased its sporting prowess by *successfully defending the title of overall champion at the 17th UniKL Student Sports Carnival (USSC) 2023*, which concluded yesterday.

UniKL MSI’s athletes displayed exceptional determination throughout the sports carnival, *securing seven gold medals, two silvers, and five bronzes, resulting in a grand total of 14 medals*.

Apart from basking in the glory of defending their title, UniKL MSI was rewarded with a substantial RM50,000 winning purse to support the development of sports on campus.

The Mini Teater STEM program is introduced to secondary school students as a platform to enhance their technical skills and equipping them with the ability to be creative, innovative, high self-esteem and ability to commercialize ideas or products created. This program focuses on students from the B40 group who are able to create an ecosystem towards a community equipped with STEM knowledge. It is also capable of producing high-quality prosumers, innovators, entrepreneurs and researchers who can generate income and help their families in specific and the country generally.

This program is in line with:

• Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 1 (No Poverty), 4 (Quality Education) and 9 (Innovation)
• Objective 3 of the National Community Policy which emphasizes strategic cooperation between the community and the public sector, the private sector and NGOs in community development.
• Cluster 4 (Education and Skills), National Community Policy
• Cluster 6 (Entrepreneurship and Social Business), National Community Policy
• The Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK 12) towards improving the skills ecosystem to develop future talent.

The Mini Teater STEM Kedah, convened in UniKL Malaysian Spanish Institute (MSI) with the collaboration of National STEM Association (NSA), UniKL MSI and Kedah State Government. Participants from various schools within Kedah State gathered in UniKL MSI for two days (15 & 16 August 2022) exhibiting their innovation and performing as a group during the event. Both performance and exhibition are evaluated by the honourable judges from industry and institute of higher learning. The competition is won by the Maktab Mahmud, Yan with the innovation of Datelicious Ice Cream which was praised by majority of the juries and visitors. Congratulation Maktab Mahmud, Yan….we are so proud of you.

Being a center for various trainings, ACE does not only offer technical training but soft skills training to all levels of employees too!

We had the opportunity to train personnel from Petronas Fertiliser, Gurun Kedah in “Beginner’s Guide to Microsoft Excel & Powerpoint” for 3 whole days!

A skill needed widely in the workplace, but somewhat lacking in some. There are more to Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel, where we come and train on how to use the tools in the 2 suite applications.

Maximizing most of these tools will effectively increase your company’s productivity levels, via interesting PowerPoint slide presentations, spreadsheets, charts, and diagrams using Microsoft Excel and much more!

Kulim, January 12, 2022 – University Kula Lumpur, Malaysian Spanish Institute has successfully organized Colloquium of Frontier Automotive System & Technology University Consortium 2022. This is the first academic gathering after year-long movement control due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

FASTER is a short form to Frontier Automotive System & Technology University Consortium. It is a name created in collaboration among three research centres from three different local universities, headed mainly by academicians. A considerable amount of online discussion during the pandemic between 2020 and 2021 has taken place, discussing the need for collaboration in establishing sustainable interdisciplinary research direction. The initiative seeks on building on the existing research area and strengthen it with interdisciplinary collaboration.

The full-day colloquium provides the opportunity and stage for researchers to present their expertise that will spearhead the research collaboration. A research workshop follows the event to determine the type of industry-inspired project, industry-initiated academic research beneficial to Malaysia, in general, and Kulim Hi-Tech Park, in specific, enhancing its global competitive position involving the nine pillars of Industrial Revolution 4.0.

The main objectives of this colloquium are as follows:

1.   To gather brilliant minds from academia and the industry;

2.   To provide a platform for discussing excellent ideas and high impact research among automotive and manufacturing systems scholars, academics, students and MARA representatives, especially concerning creation, sharing and dissemination of knowledge;

3.   To create strong relationships among students, academics, and industry to realize the full potential of the research collaborators among universities.

Professor Dr Sazali bin Yaacob, Dean UniKL MSI, opened the event, delivered the welcoming address and was officiated by the honourable Encik Hasnan bin Abdul Rahman from MARA District Officer, Kulim. The colloquium attracted three keynote speakers and 12 presenters comprising scholars, academicians, postgraduate students and representatives of researchers from UniMAP, UMP and UniKL MSI. In total, 25 papers were presented during the event
