GOLD Medal 🥇 + Special Award at KL3iS
🔥 We did it again! 🔥
Our team just bagged a GOLD Medal 🥇 + Special Award at KL3iS, and made it into the Top 5 Futurist Innovation list 🚀✨
Our project: Polymer Nanocomposite Leaf Spring for Heavy Commercial Vehicles using Finite Element Analysis.
In the automotive sector, leaf springs are super common in heavy vehicles because they spread the load evenly across the chassis. With their high strength-to-weight ratio, composites are now being explored as replacements for traditional steel springs.
Our findings show:
• PP/EPDM polymer composites improve plasticity and reduce deflection.
• Adding graphite fillers (30%) hardens the composite, reducing ductility.
• The percentage difference of maximum deflection:
🔹 Steel vs. PP/EPDM = 177.37%
🔹 PP/EPDM vs. PP/EPDM/GR (30%) = 85.72%
Huge shoutout to the whole team & our amazing supervisor for the hard work, late nights, and endless brainstorming sessions. More innovation!!

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: NEW UniKL MSI PHONE NUMBER

UNIKL MSI INNOVATION TEAM SHINES AT i3DC 2025
Glorious Gold!! UniKL MSI Innovation Team Shines at i3DC 2025, organized by KV Tanah Merah with the project Design Analysis of Polymer Nanocomposite Leaf Spring for Heavy Commercial Vehicle Application Using Finite Element Analysis.
Aniq Nor Rahimi, Muhammad Sobri, Nadhirah and their team, brilliant minds from UniKL MSI, secured another Gold Medal in their achievement this year, specifically in the International Invention, Innovation and Design Competition 2025 3rd Edition (i3DC) which was organized by Kolej Vokasional Tanah Merah, in collaboration with DIGIT360 – UiTM Startup Company, and Universiti Teknologi MARA Kelantan Branch. With the guidance of Mdm Siti Rohana, their innovative project and studies stood up for their innovative ideas in developing a composite-based leaf-spring targeting heavy vehicle applications.
In their innovative approach, the results are encouraging, where the maximum deflection decreases at PP/EPDM as the polymer composite plays a vital role in plasticity. The greater decrement at higher filling of graphite content (30%) demonstrates that fillers harden composites, reducing their ductility. The percentage difference of maximum deflection between steel and PP/EPDM is 177.37% while for the PP/EPDM and PP/EPDM/GR (30%) percentage difference is 85.72%.

UNIKL MSI TEAM SHINES WITH SILVER MEDAL IN VIC2025 3MT CATEGORY
UniKL MSI Team Shines with Silver Medal in VIC2025 3MT Category
Wan Imran, Aniq, Sobri and his team, talented students from UniKL MSI Kulim, proudly brought home a silver medal at the Virtual Innovation Competition (VIC2025) in the Virtual 3MT category, held on 25 June 2025. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Mohamed Sazali and Madam Siti Rohana, their project, titled “Machinability of AlSi 5% AlN Metal Matrix Composite,” impressed the judges with its cutting-edge approach to machining a high-strength, lightweight yet challenging material using Wire EDM. By optimizing key parameters through the Taguchi method, they proved that efficient, cost-effective machining of advanced composites is possible.
This outstanding achievement showcases UniKL MSI’s growing reputation in research and innovation—fueling inspiration for the next generation of mechanical engineers. Congratulations to the team on their remarkable success!

GLORIOUS GOLD! UNIKL MSI TEAM SHINES AT VIC2025 WITH FEED PELLET INNOVATION
Glorious Gold! UniKL MSI Team Shines at VIC2025 with Feed Pellet Innovation.
Aniq Nur Rahimi, Muhammad Sobri and his team, brilliant students from UniKL MSI, made headlines after winning a gold medal at the Virtual Innovation Competition (VIC2025) on 25 June 2025. Guided by Madam Siti Rohana, their project, “Animal Feed Pellet Machine,” stood out for its innovation, affordability, and user-friendly design—tailored for small-scale animal breeders and SMEs.
The machine boasts a portable electric system, emergency stop button, and hygienic aluminium dies. With an output of 43 kg/hour at 72% efficiency, it significantly reduces feed production costs. “Participating in the innovation event provided students with valuable experience, preparing them for advanced research and future careers by developing essential skills, confidence, and creativity,” said Madam Ana. A proud moment of innovation and excellence for UniKL MSI!
