Bangi, 20 August 2015 – UniKL celebrated a joyous milestone in its history as it turned 13 on 20 August 2015. The celebration was more meaningful with the gracious presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Al-Haj ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah, Tuanku Chancellor of UniKL. The event was held in UniKL Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI), the first technical institute of MARA that was merged with 6 other MARA technical institutes, namely BMI, MIAT, MSI, MICET, MIMET and formation of Faculty of Computer & Telecommunication Engineering Technology (FCET) and Faculty of Product Design & Manufacturing (FPDM), upgraded into a full fledge university with the brand name of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) on 20 August 2002. 
 
Held in conjunction with the groundbreaking of Tengku Abdullah Hockey Stadium, UniKL Hockey team's new home named after Tuanku Chancellor himself, the event also witnessed the formalization of Universiti Kuala Lumpur Declaration signed by former and current Chairmen and Presidents of UniKL pledging to uphold the objective of UniKL establishment and placing it to greater heights. The declaration is the manifestation of the foundation that UniKL was built upon, since the day it was established till present and will remain forever in the history of UniKL.
Also present at the event were MARA Director General, Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad, UniKL Chairman and Pro Chancellor, YB Datuk Dr. Adham Baba, UniKL President / CEO, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud, UniKL Founding Chairman, Datuk Seri (Dr) Wira Abu Seman Yusop, Malaysian Hockey Confederation President, Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, management of MARA, MHC, current and former leaders of UniKL, as well as management members, staffs and students of UniKL from all campuses around Malaysia.

In making the event even more memorable, all 12 branches of UniKL set up a team running food stalls serving all students and guests for the day. A competition on the best stall was held and winners were selected based on stall decoration, menu served and customer service. Congratulations to UniKL RCMP for winning the first place with their ‘rendang tok, ketupat daun palas and limau bali' menu! Second place went to UniKL MIIT and Chancellery that showed great camaraderie between their team members in preparing ‘dodol' the traditional way. UniKL MESTECH took home third place with their menu sagu gula Melaka, roti jala and bubur.
