Dato Sri Ismail signs the welcoming poster for his first visit to UniKL under the capacity of Minister in KKLW.

Kuala Lumpur, 25 September 2015 – YB Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) paid a visit to Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) City Campus for a special briefing session with UniKL top management members. This is Dato' Sri Ismail's first visit to UniKL under his new portfolio and accompanying him was YB Datuk Haji Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, Deputy Minister of KKLW.

Also present during the visit were MARA Chairman, YB Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Annuar Musa, MARA Director General, Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad, Deputy Secretary General of KKLW and UniKL Board Member, Dato' Rahim Abu Bakar, UniKL Chairman & Pro Chancellor, YB Datuk Dr. Adham Baba and UniKL President / CEO, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud.

Upon arrival, YB Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri was greeted by top management, staff and students of UniKL MIIT and UniKL Business School. YB Dato' Sri and VVIPs were then taken for a tour of UniKL MIIT labs where YB Dato' Sri was briefed on several research projects currently developed by UniKL MIIT. The Minister also witnessed a demonstration of projection mapping or spatial augmented reality at UniKL's hologram lab which drew his keen interest. 


 

The visit continued with a special briefing on UniKL to the Minister delivered by Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mazliham emphasized the major role of UniKL as the nation's leader in providing Higher Technical, Vocational and Education Training (HTVET) as well as the aim to be one of the best Technical University in Asia by 2020 through the WE4ASIA roadmap. Addressing all present, YB Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri remarked, "I am highly impressed and fully support UniKL's aspiration to become the nation's leading hub and learning centre for HTVET. It is my fervent hope that UniKL continues to produce graduates who will be able to earn a good living and improve their income especially those coming from low income group families in line with the aspiration of MARA".
